Conditions of Membership
- Platinum membership is available to any member.
- Professional meeting managers, metropolitan meeting venues and interstate carriers must take platinum level membership or above.
- Gold, silver and networking memberships are available to all members except professional meeting managers, metropolitan meeting venues and interstate carriers.
- In addition to the base membership fee, the following formula is used for calculating fees for all meeting venues and accommodation suppliers (Statewide):
- Venues with meeting space and accommodation:
22.5% x conference rate x number of accommodation rooms PLUS $3.72 per seat (theatre style) in the largest meeting room (to a maximum of 1000 seats). - Meeting venues without accommodation:
$4.46 per seat (theatre style) in the largest meeting room (to a maximum of 1000 seats). - Accommodation venues:
In addition to the annual membership fee, accommodation members are required to pay a commission to Business Events Tasmania on all convention, meeting and incentive room revenue. This is charged at a rate of 1.5% of accommodation room revenue derived from a conference held in-house or 2% of room revenue derived from a conference held at another property.
- Venues with meeting space and accommodation:
- When the base fee for the membership level is greater than the sum of the formula, the base membership fee is payable.
- The Business Events Tasmania board reserves the right to refuse membership to an organisation.
