Autorent Hertz Expands Further Into Convention Sector
06-Jan-2010 | Tasmanian designed & built Campervans & Motorhomes now tapping into the Group & Convention markets.
Tasmanian owned and operated Company AutoRent Hertz today announced plans to invest a further $1.25 Million dollars in new Campervans and Motorhomes throughout 2010. This comes on top of the $1.25 Million dollars the Company has invested during 2009 on new Motorhome construction.‘Part of our reason for expansion is the new market coming to us from Group & Convention areas’ says AutoRent Hertz Campervan Manager, Ken Upchurch.
It would have been unheard of 5-10 years ago but now delegates are realising the greater comfort/modern features our new generation vehicles provide; they’ve latched onto the great joy of doing pre or post Conference touring as well.
During early autumn we have 40% of our forward bookings coming from large groups as distinct from individual travellers.
Tasmania’s image is about clean & green and we’ve certainly contributed to this image. We believe we’re the only Campervan & Motorhome operator whose entire fleet has roof mounted solar panels to provide charging for the auxiliary batteries.
Two different models are being produced at the Company’s manufacturing facility opposite Launceston Airport.
A 2-Berth Toyota HiLux with shower and toilet, four burner gas cook top, griller and oven, solar panel, microwave oven, 19” H/D flat screen TV with DVD/CD player and quality Sheridan bed linen are just some of the many features of this model.
Also a 2-5 Berth Twin Cab Super Motorhome based on the new 6 speed Turbo Diesel Ford Transit will have the same features as the Toyota HiLux with the added benefit of an on-board Diesel heater, allowing the vehicle to be heated without the need to be plugged into 240v electricity.
Ken Upchurch said ‘these two models have been designed in-house for our own rental requirements. Adding these new vehicles to fleet will allow us to offer a select number of ex rental vehicles for sale directly to the public.’
