Business Events Delegate Expenditure and Satisfaction Survey Results

30-Apr-2012 | Delegate Satisfaction rates the 'levels of service' and the 'friendliness of the locals' highly in the latest release of the Business Events Delegate Expenditure and Satisfaction Survey, March 2012.

The purpose of this research is to gather information about the direct contribution that convention delegates travelling to the state make to the Tasmanian economy as well as the delegate levels of satisfaction with the destination.

The survey revealed that 91% of delegates are impressed by the standard of service, 90% by the friendliness of the locals and 90% by the business event organisation. Following closely in the delegate satisfaction levels are business event facilities, food and wine and restaurants. Also, 98% of the delegates surveyed would recommend Tasmania to friends and colleagues as a place to visit and 70% of the delegates surveyed said that they planned to visit Tasmania for a holiday within the next 3 years.

EMRS on behalf of Business Events Tasmania undertook Round 1 of surveying delegates between March and August 2011. The second round of the Delegate Expenditure Survey was during the period of September to December 2011. The collective findings of both round 1 and 2 surveys have been reviewed to provide the aggregated results below:

  • The total expenditure per delegate is $3,059.54
  • The average daily expenditure is $565.53
  • The overall length of stay per delegate is 5.41 days

EMRS is currently conducting another round of delegate surveys with the results to be released in the new financial year.

Stuart Nettlefold said, "This research provides Business Events Tasmania with both quantitative and qualitative data that is extremely important for our industry and helps build the case for government and stakeholder support.

More information on these results will be presented at an Industry Update by Business Events Tasmania within the next couple of months."

The Industry Update invitation will be forwarded in the near future - please be on the lookout for this.
