Introducing the new TCB Board of Directors

06-Nov-2008 | The Tasmanian Convention Bureau (TCB) board has been elected for the 08/09 year.

The TCB is overseen by a seven member Board of Directors, consisting of business tourism executives and an independent Chairman.

The TCB membership, made up of nearly 200 Tasmanian businesses, elects four directors to the board.

At the recent TCB Annual General Meeting, Ralph Freckelton from the Hotel Grand Chancellor, Gerald Ellis from Meadowbank Estate and Nicholas Heyward from the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra were re-elected as Directors of the TCB.

Mr Freckelton, Mr Ellis and Mr Heyward join Bernard Dwyer from Federal Group, who has one year remaining on his election to the TCB Board of Directors.

The Hotel Grand Chancellor, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Meadowbank Estate and Federal Group are all long running members of the Tasmanian Convention Bureau.

In addition to the four Directors elected by the membership base, Tourism Tasmania, as the TCB’s primary stakeholder, appoints a director to the board.

Felicia Mariani, CEO Tourism Tasmania, will continue her board position as the Tourism Tasmania representative.

It is the role of the five elected directors to appoint two independent representatives to the Board. Tony Hart, from Clemenger Tasmania, and Ruth Lilian, a Professional Conference Organiser from Sydney, have subsequently been re-appointed to the Board.

The newly elected board as a whole is required to appoint an independent Chairman to head the Board of Directors. Tony Hart has been re-elected as Chairman for 2008/09.

This will be Mr Hart’s seventh year as Chairman of the Tasmanian Convention Bureau.
