22-Sep-2011 | The latest round of Tasmanian Visitor Survey (TVS) results have been released and show that the number of people travelling from interstate for a conference or convention increased by 21 percent for the period ending 30 June 2011 - a fantastic result.
Based on these results, the total number of visitors to Tasmania for a conference or convention has increased from 29,800 to 33,800 during this period. This significant increase has an estimated economic worth of approximately $62.3 million - a huge investment in the state’s economy and a result that we are very proud of.
This increase in conference and convention travel to Tasmania is one of the few positive aspects in a set of tourism figures that reflect the ongoing challenges of a very competitive and dramatically changing domestic and global marketplace.
The 21 percent increase and estimated economic worth of approximately $62.3 million vindicates Business Events Tasmania’s strategy and our strong presence at tradeshows nationally. We have worked hard to stay at the front of key decision makers minds and the latest TVS results prove that this investment has paid off.
Business Events Tasmania also continually invites conference organisers and event planners to the state on site inspections and famils and these visits have lead to great opportunities to convert business as well.
The latest TVS results reinforce the fact that 2010/2011 has been a stand-out year for the business events industry in Tasmania.
