Sydney to Hobart C&I Sailing Adventures with Hobart Yachts
17-Dec-2012 | As the annual Sydney to Hobart Yacht race draws near a new offering is gaining popularity, especially with corporate and conference clients.
Hobart Yachts provide a variety of sailing adventures, from three-hour cruises on the Derwent to week-long journeys around the East coast and explorations of the South West World Heritage wilderness at Port Davey and Bathurst Harbour. Two 62-foot luxury ocean racer/cruisers, Helsal IV and her sister ship Magic Miles (both Dynamique 62s), have been slugging it out in a number of one-on-one Match Races on the Derwent River, following the last leg of the Sydney to Hobart race. You can sail aboard a Sydney to Hobart race veteran and take a turn at the helm or on the winches, or sit back and enjoy the thrill of the race. The yachts are very evenly matched, with both having wins, and the rivalry between the two is contagious!
These two Maxis are in survey to take 18 passengers each (ie. maximum total of 36). Highly experienced and qualified skippers and crew ensure that you get the most out of your day with clear instructions on how to participate fully and safely. The race takes approximately three hours. After sailing to the mouth of the river, the yachts follow the often tricky Derwent River leg of the Sydney to Hobart race, ending at the official finish line off Castray Esplanade. Afterwards everyone retires to a nearby watering hole to watch video of the day’s racing and 'debrief' over a drink or two.
You can see other magnificent photographs of these races on Hobart Yachts’ website and a great little video of a Carlton United Breweries Match Race on their Facebook page.
Cost - $190 per person. A minimum of 12 passengers or $2,280. Download the brochure.
