Mice.net Famil Showcases Tasmania
29-May-2009 | In late April/early May the Tasmanian Convention Bureau (TCB) in conjunction with MICE.net, hosted 23 corporate buyers and professional conference organisers on a familiarisation of Tasmania. Feedback from the clients suggests that this famil was a total success.

The TCB promoted the familiarisation through MICE.net, one of the biggest business events magazines in the Asia Pacific region. Through a series of email advertisements the famil was promoted across the business events industry in Australia, with nearly 80 business events professionals from around the country expressing an interest in attending. This list was shortened to those most likely to bring business events to Tasmania and as a result 23 clients were treated to an all expenses paid showcase of our island.
The clients were split into two groups based on their typical group size and interests. Clients with smaller incentive based groups experienced the East Coast and Hobart and Clients organising larger conferences experienced Hobart and Surrounds.
Many TCB members including DMC by SHE, who helped run the famil, contributed significantly to ensuring that this famil was a success.
Feedback from the clients has been very positive, indicating that Tasmania is set to receive plenty of business as a result in the future.
Here is what the clients had to say:
Thank you all for the phenominal hospitality, ultimate professionalism, comprehensive programming and clockwork precision.
This has been without doubt the most productive and stimulating Famil I have ever participated in. It has definitely opened my eyes, and has given me opportunities that I have never imagined.

Many thanks for a fabulous famil ; met some great local characters that would sell their product on their personalities alone. The programme was so well arranged and hospitality was wonderful. Looking forward to selling what we experienced to our clients.

Thanks again for the many hours of effort and planning you must have put in – it paid off and Tas is front of mind for all of our briefs. Hoping also we can send a few more briefs your way.
Stephen Blake, Adrenalin
Thank you so much, I absolutely loved Tassie, and it’s now high on our hit list. Thank you again.

Thank you so much for organising and hosting a great trip – I think I could stay for 2 weeks and not see it all. I really enjoyed Hobart and what it has to offer and would quite happily live there myself – we’re seriously considering it!
I’ve also spoken to the client that I had in mind for Hobart for either 2011 or 2012 – he’s told me no decision until July as that’s when the new round finishes and new organisations are given the go-ahead, but that’s not too far off.
Please pass on my thanks to Denise and all the suppliers that provided us with such great hospitality, a warm welcome and an insight to what they can offer groups.
Look forward to catching up and hopefully booking a group there soon.

The tassie famil was brilliant and i have not been able to stop telling people about the extra splendours you guys served up.
It was tremendous – we are now in the process of setting up a website and pdf with packages to promote thrill events in Tasmania.
The knowledge, locations and people you put us in contact with was immense.
You will hear more from me shortly and I really hope to bring some incentive groups as soon as the weather hits the spring cycle.
Konrad Lippman, THRILL team events
A VERY BIG thank you to you all for organising such an insightful trip to Hobart & the surrounds. Having never been to Tasmania and hearing only stories of how similar it is to New Zealand I was completely blown away with how spectacular the city and surrounding areas were. It’s amazing that we have such a gorgeous city on a harbour front surrounded by beautiful picturesque mountains… what more could you want.
The program you put together showcased a glimpse of the city's diversity and it is certainly a destination that I know will appeal to more than one of my clients. To pin point my favourite experience would be too difficult as they were all thoroughly enjoyable and worth speaking of upon my return to Brisbane.
Please pass on my thank you to the team, and I look forward to working together soon on a pitch for Tasmania!
