The Big Backyard: Wine and Music at Redbanks
07-Feb-2012 | The Eight Hours Day long weekend will see the sleepy village of Nugent throw open the farm gates to host the biggest backyard party ever seen in southern Tasmania.
The Big Backyard: Wine and Music at Redbanks has burst on to Tasmania’s festival calendar, championing the talents of local musicians, winemakers and artisans. The event will be held from 11am to 9.30pm on Sunday, March 11 2012, at Redbanks Fish and Field in Nugent.Redbanks owner Lindsay White welcomed all to share a “glass on the grass” at the family-friendly event. “There will be food and drink to buy; Gillespie’s Ginger Beer will be here plus local vineyards Yaxley Estate, Bream Creek, and Mount Bernier. The tickets are reasonably priced, the music will be great and the day will be fun for all age groups,” Lindsay said, with contagious enthusiasm.
Festival patrons are encouraged to bring a picnic rug or chair, soak up the sunshine and sample the local wines and wares at the natural amphitheatre on Redbanks’ 400 acres of bushland and countryside just 45 minutes from Hobart.
The main stage will feature popular Tasmanian acts such as Meer Katz, MIQ, Samuel Webster, Zac Walsh, Rum Jungle and headline act The Wolfe Brothers.
