The Bridestowe Estate Lavender Farm - Blooming Beautiful
01-Nov-2011 | The Bridestowe Estate Lavender Farm, in Tasmania's north, is considered one of Tasmania's most spectacular sites during flowering in December and January. The air of tranquillity, subtle fragrance and beauty of Bridestowe continues to attract visitors throughout the year.
Stroll through endless fields, browse for gifts in the shop and grab a delicious lavender inspired bite to eat in the Woodcroft Cafe. Come and learn a little bit more about a very special lavender, hear a wonderful Tasmanian story (over 85 years in the making) and experience the excellence in lavender that only Bridestowe can offer.Self guided tours are available all year around and guided tours are available for groups by appointment. An excellent audio-visual presentation detailing the Estate's remarkable history and explaining the harvesting and distillation processes, is screened in the Visitor Centre. Translations of the self-guided tour are available in Japanese, Indonesian and German.
The Visitor Centre showcases a extensive range of lavender products including the exceptional Bridestowe lavender oil and dried lavender flowers. Also featured are locally made crafts using Bridestowe lavender
The café offers a selection of light refreshments, espresso coffee and a range of lavender teas. Other gourmet lavender products including lavender ice-creaam, fudge, confectionary and lavender cheese, as well as the world acclaimed lavender honey produced on the Estate, are available in the cafe.
Two century-old oak trees in the lavender fields offer wonderful picnic spots, and visitors are encouraged to stroll around the lavender fields and gardens. In January during the harvest visitors can watch the cut lavender being distilled and learn about the cultivation and processing of lavender.

During the flowering season from the 1st December through to the 31st of January there is a gate charge of $7 for adults, children under 16 enter free.
Bridestowe Estate is open from 9.00am - 5.00pm seven days a week throughout the summer months, and Monday to Friday 10.00am - 4.00pm during winter. The full cafe menu is available between 11.00am - 2.30pm. Outside of these times there is a reduced menu available unless prior arrangement is made. We are closed on Christmas Day and Good Friday. Coach and car parking are available. There is access and toilet facilities for the disabled.
