TSO Honoured in Awards

20-Oct-2009 | The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra (TSO) has been awarded the Australia Business Arts Foundation (AbaF) National Giving Award in Brisbane on October15. After winning the Giving Award in Tasmania, the TSO moved into the National judging, being honoured with the award at National level in the Brisbane ceremony.

The TSO was honoured for its successful fundraising program which, established in 2002, is a crucial part of the orchestra’s sustainability.

Donations help to support educational events, commission new music and buy new instruments.

The AbaF Awards recognise innovation and growth through partnering, volunteering and giving programs.

Another Tasmanian award winner was the partnership between Tasmanian Regional arts and RACT Insurance for their support of young visual artists. The partnership was a finalist in the National City of Brisbane Encouragement Award. The National Regional Arts Conference will be held in Tasmania in 2010.

The Tasmanian Convention Bureau hosted clients at the TSO Opening Night in Sydney again this year, showcasing the talent of Tasmanian musicians to fifty clients in a superb evening of entertainment. Clients were led to the venue by a singing diva before enjoying pre dinner drinks, intermission drinks and then supper with the orchestra and conductor.
