This is a reward worth winning...- Every bid request you submit in 2013 results is an entry into the draw.
- As the winner, you will have your choice of one of two Tasmanian island getaways - A West Coast Wilderness Adventure or an East Coast Exploration.
- Each getaway includes return flights to Tasmania, accommodation for 5 nights, car hire and experiences.
- Both getaways include the opportunity to explore Hobart - one of the Lonely Planet's 'top ten cities in the world to visit' for 2013, and 'one of the world's top ten destinations on the rise' as voted by TripAdvisor readers.
- Both itineraries include free entry and lunch at MONA, the Museum of Old and New Art.
- As the winner, you will be provided with a folio of vouchers valid for the 2014 calendar year (January 3rd - December 23rd) so that you can book your holiday at a convenient time and in a way that suits your travel style.
The winner of the Tasmanian Getaway Competition will have first choice of the two itineraries. The second Tasmanian getaway will be awarded to the runner up.
The winners will be announced in December 2013 in the Business Events Tasmania Client Newsletter.
Here is a sneak peak at the suggested itineraries:
West Coast Wilderness Adventure
Day 1
Arrive into Hobart, collect your Nissan X-Trail (Budget Rent A Car) and start your adventure!
First stop is the Barilla Bay oyster farm for a tour and a sample of fresh Tasmanian oysters.
Continue on to the Port Arthur Historic Site (Free entry and evening Ghost Tour)
Stay: at the secluded and stylish Stewarts Bay Lodge in a Spa Deluxe Chalet.
Day 2
Make your way back to Hobart for the world renowned Salamanca Markets (Saturday only 10 – 3pm). Wander the stalls and art galleries and settle in to a market-side café for morning tea. Catch a Ferry to MONA, the Museum of Old and New Art, for your complimentary lunch with matching wines and entry into the exhibition, which was voted best Gourmet Traveller experience 2012. You will easily spend the afternoon here. Stay: at the recently refurbished Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart with spectacular views of Hobart’s Waterfront.
Day 3
Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Tasmanian wilderness as you drive to Strahan on Tasmania’s incredible West Coast. Stay: at the Strahan Village, enjoy a stroll in this quaint fishing town and indulge in some of the freshest seafood you’ll find in the world.
Day 4
Spend the morning deep in the World Heritage Wilderness Area onboard the Gordon River Cruise. Feel the humbling effects of the majestic ancient forests reflected in the dark waters. Drive to Cradle Mountain National Park. Stay: at Cradle Mountain Lodge. Finish the day with a Tasmanian whiskey or wine.
Day 5
Explore the spectacular Cradle Mountain National Park. Take a wilderness walk around Dove Lake and enjoy some serious wildlife spotting. Drive to Launceston stopping for berries, chocolate and cheese along the way. Stay: at the Country Club Tasmania.
Day 6
Explore the beautiful city of Launceston including the incredible Cataract Gorge, historic homesteads and boutique shops. Drive to the stunning Josef Chromy winery; enjoy fine food and wine in a serene setting. Fly out.
East Coast Exploration
Day 1
Arrive in to the city of Launceston, collect your Mini Cooper (from Overdrive car hire) and begin your journey! First stop is Josef Chromy for an indulgent food and wine experience surrounded by beautiful vineyards. Spend the afternoon exploring the city of Launceston including the incredible Cataract Gorge, historic homesteads and boutique shops. Stay: At the newly refurbished Hotel Grand Chancellor Launceston.
Day 2
Drive to the Bridestowe Lavendar Farm, one of the largest in the world. Enjoy morning tea at this magical site. The heavenly scent of Lavendar will cleanse the palate for your lunch at Barnbougle Dunes - Australia’s number #1 public access golf course. Stay: At the onsite spa retreat with astounding views of Tasmania’s rugged north coast and Bass Strait.
Day 3
Drive amongst the giant forests of Tasmania’s north east, through lush pastoral lands and along the beautiful coast line of the famed East Coast. Stay: At White Sands Estate, with incredible ocean views, private beach, heated pool, restaurant, and the award winning Iron House Brewery.
Day 4
After a relaxing breakfast in the fresh ocean air, journey south to Coles Bay and the Freycinet National Park. Stay: At Freycinet Lodge. Explore Wine Glass Bay, Honeymoon Bay or just relax on the balcony of your secluded cabin within the National Park.
Day 5

Relax, bubbles in hand, in the exclusive Captains Upper Deck, and experience world class interpretation as you glide past ancient sea cliffs to your lunch destination. Enjoy delicious regional produce at Peppermint Bay before your return voyage to Hobart. Fly out.
